Dear Parents
We are well into June now and this year seems to be passing by faster than ever! The children have had a lovely time enjoying all our recent topics - animals has been a very popular one. Bugs and mini beasts gave some lovely opportunities for the children to experience the life cycle of butterflies, ladybirds and frogs. A big thank you to everyone who sent in photographs of your pets - our displays have been full of dogs, cats, ponies, sheep, cows and a bearded dragon called Fred! Our annual gardening topic is now well on the way and we have cucumbers, tomatoes, pumpkins, courgettes and strawberries growing, along with our usual herb bed, sunflowers and sweet peas.
As always at this time of year, we start to think about all of our older children who are about to leave us to embark on the
next important stage of growing up as they begin their primary education. This summer we will be saying goodbye to Reggie L, River, Reggie N, George, Tommy, Lilah, Jesse, Bunty, Ronnie, Milo, Erin, William, Jack, Savannah, Dylan, Bodie, Teddy, Xander, Luca, Eliza, Finley, Ivy, Alicia, Jacob, Leo, Lyla, Olivia, Casper, Annie and Charlie. On behalf of the staff team and ourselves, we would like to wish them all so much fun and happiness in all the different schools they will be attending. For some families, it will be an end of an era too as their youngest child leaves Millfield – it has been a pleasure having you all at Millfield so please come back and visit us whenever you like. We will certainly miss you all!
As always, we would like to say a big welcome to the new children and their families who have joined Millfield Babies recently and we have lots more children joining us in the coming months! We are delighted that you have joined us here at Millfield and we hope you all have a lovely time!
Finally, we wish you all a lovely summer time and have lovely holidays where ever you go!
With kind regards

The school transfer forms have all been completed now and thanks to all the parents who have returned their form so far. Once we have received all the forms back from parents, we will send our development records and Busy Bee Books home for parents to keep. The transfer form will be sent on to the primary school your child will be attending before the end of this academic year in July. We are also planning our staffing now for the summer months so we would be really grateful if you could let us know if you have planned a date as yet for your child to leave Millfield – lots of the children are staying right through the summer! Thank you.
We have made plans for our annual summer Sports Days for the older children and as always, we are holding two separate dates and splitting the children into two groups on two Fridays in July.
Kat Plimmer, our weekly sports coach comes in on Fridays so she will be here to help organise the events.
This year our two groups will be as follows:
Friday 3rd July (Group 1): This is for all the children who are moving on to primary school in September along with any
siblings they may have here at Millfield
Friday 10th July (Group 2): This is for all our younger children who will still be with us in September
We always start our sports days at 9:30am promptly and we look forward to seeing you all on those dates.
Just a reminder that the car park is likely to be very busy for these two events. The staff team will park around the side of Millfield Babies to free up as many spaces as possible. However if the car park is full, please park carefully on Tythby Road on the opposite side to Millfield and avoid the front lawns of our neighbours either side - thank you.
We are in the busiest period of the year now and Millfield is fully booked until the end of August when our older children leave nursery. Should you need any extra sessions at all, please email us as we have one central booking system and we will try to accommodate any requests. There may be odd spaces if someone is on holiday for example
If you have any holidays planned, please just email us the dates so we are aware of children's absences.

Many thanks.
We are sad to let you all know that Mrs Natasha Bonser will be leaving Millfield on Friday 28th August. Tash has worked for us here at Millfield since December 2021 and has a been an extremely valued member of the team. Tash has always been passionate about outdoor learning and has developed the Millfield vegetable gardens along with Miss Lauren. Tash has always been keen to provide as many wonderful outdoor experiences as possible for the children and it is a vital part of their early development. Tash has accepted a Teaching Assistant position at Cropwell Bishop School and this will fit in better with her own family life. We know that Tash will keep in touch but we will all really miss her and we know that along with ourselves and the staff team, you will wish her all the very best for the future.
Miss Keira Pearson is back with us once more. Keira worked for us in University breaks up to September last year when she returned to university to undertake a Masters in Law. Keira has now been offered a pupillage in April 2027 so she will be working with us until next spring. Miss Poppy Morley has been working for us in college and university holidays for several years now and she is also joining us for the summer. Miss Sorcha Corley is back with us too having now completed her degree in Psychology. Sorcha will be working for part of the summer but will then join us on a full time basis from the middle of September once Mrs Bonser has started her new position. Miss Grace and Miss Lexi will continue to work over the summer holidays once college breaks up. They are both familiar to everyone as they work every Monday and Tuesday afternoon.
We are delighted to welcome all the girls back to Millfield again as they provide valuable support to the main staff teams in the main nursery and Millfield Babies over the summer months.

Our current topic is 'People who help us' and the staff are planning lots of fun activities linked to this lovely theme.
We have booked a 'Mini Medics' session for the main nursery on Thursday 9th July with Dee Gladden. We have known Dee for many years as her grandchildren both attended Millfield. She volunteers as a responder for the Trent First Responders, she is a first aid trainer and runs all our staff paediatric first aid training courses. Dee loves running mini medics sessions and the children will be invited to bring a small favourite teddy or doll along so that they can practice putting on bandages. We will email more details nearer the date.
We are also trying to arrange visits from the police and fire fighters and more information will follow if we can plan these things.
If any parents have careers that fall into this category and would like to come in to Millfield to talk to the older children about your job, we would be delighted to welcome you! Just email us at Millfield: millfieldnursery@hotmail.com
As always, a reminder for everyone about the Working Families Funded Hours which are available for all children from 9+
months for eligible parents. Full information about when you will be eligible and how you can access the funded hours here
at Millfield is provided in an information sheet. If you would like another copy of this, please just ask and it can be emailed to you.
For parents who are eligible, we will be able to claim up to 30 funded hours from this September. The date of birth range for funded hours in September is children born between 01.09.2024 - 30.11.2025. If you aren’t eligible for the Working Families funded hours, once your child reaches the term after their third birthday, you will automatically become eligible for the Universal 15 funded hours which has been in place for many years. Everyone is eligible for this funding. Just a reminder that once your child reaches the term after their third birthday, the funded hours hourly rate we receive is significantly less and we will add on a charge for meals and also our essentials and extras to ensure your child can continue to enjoy everything our daily rate includes. It also ensures our sustainability. This is all explained in our funding information sheet.
Full information about all the different funded hours is also available on the following website:
